Pierre Fernandez is a research scientist at Meta FAIR Paris, working on watermarking generative models to make AI-generated content traceable and identifiable. Notably, he developed TextSeal, a state-of-the-art watermark for large language models (LLMs); the invisible watermarking technology behind Meta’s AI-generated images, from Imagine to Muse Image; the open-source Video Seal and Pixel Seal models, now part of Content Seal; AudioSeal, used in FAIR demos such as Audiobox and Seamless; and Stable Signature, for watermarking generative models even when they are open-sourced. He co-organized the GenAI Watermarking workshop at ICLR 2025 and a watermarking tutorial at CVPR 2026, and is regularly consulted on the technical aspects of AI transparency regulations such as the EU AI Act. He completed his PhD at FAIR and Inria Rennes, after studying at École polytechnique.
