Francois Tournesac

François Tournesac has more than 25 years of experience in computing, storage, and networking. As CEO and co-founder of Impleon, he developed a methodology for specifying a liquid-cooled solution with heat recovery capabilities. He launched the “ecosystem building” program to optimize data centers for heat reuse, decarbonization, and end-to-end Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) calculations in order to facilitate the transition to liquid cooling infrastructures. François Tournesac has been the OCP lead for France since 2024 and participates in the “liquid cooling,” “cold plate,” and “immersion” working groups. He also holds an Executive MBA from HEC with a specialization in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Babson College. In line with his social values, François became a certified agricultural arborist in 2021 with a BPREA from ESA Angers. Mission: The Open Compute Project Foundation is a rapidly growing global community whose mission is to design, use, and enable the widespread adoption of the most efficient designs for scalable computing. We believe that the open sharing of ideas, specifications, and other intellectual property is key to maximizing innovation and reducing the complexity of technological components. The Open Compute Project Foundation provides a framework within which individuals and organizations can share their intellectual property with others and encourage the IT industry to evolve. By designing more efficient, flexible, and scalable basic hardware, we are redefining technology infrastructure. Together, we are breaking free from the shackles of proprietary and one-size-fits-all equipment. Vision: As technology players from all sectors join this community, we create and refine more designs, enabling more companies to transition from their legacy proprietary solutions to OCP equipment. In response, hardware manufacturers are adapting their offerings to keep pace with our innovations and meet the market’s changing needs and expectations. We know that as the global migration of services to the cloud accelerates, more data will be managed and connected. As a result, we must be as efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable as possible. Computer hardware must become a set of commoditized and scalable products, optimized for these challenges. We believe that open collaboration is the best way to achieve this.
