Tech Show Paris Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at a Decade of Innovation
Interview with Caroline Ballu — Tech Show Paris's 10th Anniversary

1. Tech Show Paris is celebrating its 10th anniversary. When you look back on the first event, what strikes you most about how far it’s come?

What strikes me most is not only how large the event has become, but also how the role of technology in businesses has evolved. At the first edition, we had fewer exhibitors and visitors, and data centers were still relatively unknown outside of specialist circles. Today, the cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and AI are fully interconnected, and technology decisions are made all the way up to the executive committee. Tech Show Paris has grown alongside this transformation to become the go-to event for all IT decision-makers.

2. What memory from the last ten years has left the deepest impression on you?

The COVID-19 pandemic, paradoxically. Our business came to a halt, but our clients, partners, and audience continued to place their trust in us. This period reminded us of something essential: despite all the technology at our disposal, nothing can replace human interaction. To move forward, make decisions, and build trust, we still need to come together.

3. Visitors see the finished program. But they don't see all the work that went into creating it.

They don’t realize how many hundreds of hours of listening, reflection, and coordination are required. We need to identify the right people, renew our steering committee, compare different perspectives, and understand the questions the industry is actually asking itself. Our challenge is then to transform all of this material into a program that is demanding, varied, clear, and useful.

4. How do you choose the topics and speakers that will truly benefit the attendees?

Above all, we’re looking for people who have real-world experience to share and who know how to convey it with sincerity. Tech Show Paris is not a promotional platform. We want to talk about the challenges faced, the choices made, and the lessons learned. A few years ago, the main question was, “What’s the next innovation?” Today, it’s more like, “How can I effectively integrate and manage it within my organization?”

5. Speakers, exhibitors, content, activities… how do all these elements come together to create the Tech Show Paris experience?

All these elements form a single ecosystem. The conferences provide insights, the exhibitors present concrete solutions, and the activities create opportunities to try things out, engage in dialogue, and connect with others. VIP cocktail receptions, a startup zone, the Immersive Hub, roundtable discussions, and one-on-one meetings: each format plays a role. Our job is to build bridges so that everyone leaves with ideas, contacts, and real courses of action.

6. For this 10th edition, what did you want to bring that was truly new?

We wanted to create more meaningful and personalized interactions. This is achieved through the Executive Club, the Immersive Hub, a stronger focus on startups, and more interactive formats. Technology makes many things much easier, but it cannot replace a candid conversation among peers or a pivotal meeting. For this anniversary edition, we have therefore placed the human experience at the heart of innovation.

7. The Executive Club is one of this year’s major new features. Why did you create it, and what kind of experience do you want to offer VIPs?

The Executive Club directly addresses the needs expressed by our VIP audience. It is designed for C-level executives and decision-makers who wish to explore their challenges in greater depth with their peers. In addition to the conferences, they benefit from roundtable discussions with five to six participants, dedicated content, pre-arranged meetings, and concierge-style support. What sets it apart is this more intimate, targeted experience that fosters highly practical discussions.

8. If you had to give just one reason to come experience this 10th edition on November 18 and 19 rather than reading a summary of it afterward, what would it be?

Because an event allows us to step back—something our daily lives don’t always let us do. By stepping outside our routine, we learn, we challenge our ideas, and we meet people who can help move a project or decision forward. A summary conveys the information; it will never replace the conversations, energy, and opportunities experienced in person.

9. Over the past ten years, what development in the data center industry has most changed the way you build DCW Paris?

What strikes me most is that the data center is no longer an invisible piece of technical infrastructure. With AI, it now sits at the intersection of energy, industry, sovereignty, and regional development. This is also transforming the way we build DCW Paris: we now talk about high density, cooling, connectivity, retrofitting, and heat recovery, but also about financing, talent, and local acceptance. Our role is to bring this entire ecosystem together to anticipate the next wave of transformations rather than simply endure them.

10. Among the issues related to AI, energy, capacity, costs, and resilience, which one do you think is particularly important to discuss this year?

For me, the central challenge is to move from announced capacity to capacity that is actually available, useful, and sustainable. France has real strengths, including largely decarbonized electricity and strong investment momentum. But we still need to be able to connect, finance, cool, and operate this infrastructure, while preserving its resilience and acceptability. With AI, the question is therefore no longer simply, “How many megawatts can we build?” but rather, “What value can we create with each megawatt, for both businesses and local communities?”
