First-generation AI coding assistants helped industrialize software development, but their impact on delivery cycles remained limited, typically resulting in a 10–15% increase in productivity. Agent-based AI is now changing the game by enabling the creation of hybrid human-agent teams, organized around a new operational model capable of significantly reducing delivery times and radically increasing productivity. To successfully deploy this model and scale it, three key drivers are essential:

(i) completely rethink the target operating model,

(ii) actively steer adoption and impact, and,

(iii) Start with a pilot project but plan for scaling up.
